I thought it had just been sold recently? Has it gone bankrupt again?

From memory the local council has been limiting its use for race meetings due to noise complaints (sounds familiar!), and has said if it closes it would like to build housing on the land. Conflict of interest much?

Started to read an article about how a North Koren company bought it, and planned on replicating it there then demolishing the original... happened to be on April 1st

Wonder what its worth / a car manufacturer should buy it

It would be a very very sad day if the North loop was ever to be demolished.

So much history right there.

Atleast Michael gets to do some full laps in the W02 :)

it seems crazy to hear about the council wanting to build houses on something so cool, but i can just imagine that happening in auckland.

I'd be surprised if a car manufacturer or two doesnt buy it, so many test mules and new cars get tested there, and its used as a selling point for them.

Dont a lot of manufacturers have facilities at the ring too?

Not really their style. More likely to let Nissan use it for free and still develop something faster.

one of the comments mentioned an idea about starting up some kind of fund for people to put money into, in return for shares of the company that would be created to purchase the ring with said money

seemed like a good idea, hard to imagine it getting enough money though
