both wheels 100% did have drive. (Put it in gear while up on axle stands)
And the part of the paddock was the driveway so had a gravel base. Was surprisingly grippy. Trying to replicate it with the open diff will certainly result in a one wheeler peeler

The box will come apart about 20mm leaving 5th gear on and you can get a spanner in through the gap to undo the bolts that hold it together. I put my LSD in to my C52 this way. That doesn't involve removing 5th gear and gives you access to the Diff. If it doesn't necessarily need to go back together it'll be a good learning experience.
