'Low profile' oil filter relocation adapter, options?

Postby ~SlideWays~ » Wed Jun 05, 2013 11:55 am

I currently have one of these (first pic) but the block adapter was too close to the turbo exhaust housing. So I machined it down which meant the male fittings had to be welded on. It worked ok but still wasn't really enough clearance.

Current adapter:

I'm putting it all back in again now after a rebuild but have noticed the fitting surface is damaged so is going to leak.

Now I'm looking at options for a spin on adapter that is 'low profile', possibly with the inlet/outlets on the side instead of the top. But I'm finding it doesn't seem to be very common.

I did find this on ebay but I'm wondering if there is anything local?

Hmm kinda looks like an oil cooler sandwich plate that they've made a cap for. Looks quite good apart from the shitty fittings they've used. It may be that you have to go down the custom route or mod your current one, but as I will be in a similar position I'll keep an eye out for something suitable

I made a custom one.

It is a blank off plate with custom banjo bolt with inner thread (with 2 O-rings groves). The plate has hole for the banjo bolt, grove for oil and another grove for gasket (donated from random oil filter). The bolt has 30mm hex head.

Cost was $50 cash to machinist about 7 years ago.

It is currently off the car, so I can send you the pictures and measurements for the bolt and the plate.

Canton Racing do a side ported 'cap' style adaptor.

Is a bit spendy from memory.

Bah, that is similar to what I did, but much, much better.

Cool that's an option.

Here's the 'Jackmaster' one (scroll down a bit).

I've emailed for a price.
