Performance tyre question

Postby steroidcontaskie » Mon Jun 10, 2013 2:34 pm

Hi all

I need to get a pair of front tyres for my soarer, 18x8 alloys, and of course wanted the best performance I could get for a reasonble price. A friends recommended RE002s and was thinking 235 wide.

But the I reliased I dont know anything about tyres, that I will need some new rears soon too (18x9) and that all I have to go on is what random internet people say. This got me thinking, do you need different properties in front vs rear tyres, and if so how do you pick the best front rear combo?

I guess my question is, what would people recommend for front and rear tyres, for a daily driven, no track days soarer. Budget would be around 300 per tyre up front and maybe 450 each at the back.

Cheers
Edward

I have RE002 on the front of my daily, would recommend. I try and run all tyres the same. But They stopped making the ones I have on the rear, so I was forced to change. I don't see any reason to have different ones as you want a great tyre on each corner. I'm sure RE002 will do the trick.

This is probably the latest tyre thread: viewtopic.php?t=90645

But if you use the search you'll find lots more.

Ideally you would want same tyres front and rear as it was intended to handle and grip from the factory. Generally i would say yes keep front and rear the same but could depend on a few factors;
- does you car have coilovers?
-do you like to chew through your rear treads by using the obligatory right foot?
- are you a cheap arse?

i would recommend the nitto nt 555 over a bridgestone any day. they are very reasonably priced (about $270 iirc) and hold on extremely well. also very resistant to.camber wear and are excellent in the wet. i ran them on my 101 with heaps of camber no worries and i have mates who run them on front and rear of an rb26 powered gtst and s15. Really good grip and last well so can't complain. mag & turbo are the agents so should get you the sharpest price.

Cool,

I will get RE002 all round, seems like they are a pretty popular choice.
