ACIS help - indentification, operation and testing ?

Hi all, there's a lot of info about ACIS on the net I'll admit that but could someone please give me a quick overview of the system ? I think I have it on my Cynos B with the 5E-FHE engine - I've uploaded a pic, does tihs confirm I have ACIS ? How can I test the ACIS to see if it operates correctly - is it possible to observe the mechanism working if the throttle is operated by hand ? Are there any common faults that occur with ACIS and how easy are they to resolve ??

Yes that is the acis actuator, when the engine gets to a certain rpm(cant remember exactly as mines disabled/broken :lol: ) a solenoid will allow air to the actuator which will push that lever and open the 2nd runners.
It should work while stationary.
I know the plastic nipple that the vacuum line goes to is sometimes brittle and can break off like mine has.

That looks like an ACIS actuator. if you look at it with the car off to see where the arm is then start the car it should move to a position 90 deg from off position.

"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

Thanks guys - excellent info to get me started with. I will observe the arm with the motor off and then compare to when it's running. There's a video on Youtube of the ACIS actuator operating so I'll see if I can see mine move when the revs get high enough ( somewhere around 4000 I think ? )
