Cynos B / 5E-FHE HT leads - expensive ? Alternatives ?

Hi all,

I've discovered that I've got a severely corroded coil lead on my Cynos B and after making some calls, it seems I can only get a full set of replacement leads and the cheapest option is $220 !!!! This seems pricey to me, but is it because they are unique to that engine ( they have the little grey clips / plugs ) ?? Are there any cheaper options ?

Have you tried Mark for a price? Unless theyve gone up even the TRD leads were cheaper than that.

Thanks for the quick reply mate and I have tried Toyota direct - they do not have any in Auckland or Hamilton and they're asking $397 + GST !!!!

When I take a trip to pick-a-part for my intake hose ( not paying $90 for a rubber tube ), I will see if there are any ignition components I can hoard - there must be loads of Tercels / Corollas with the 5E-FE / FHE that have still got leads on them, dizzy caps, coils etc. Might gather a few spares !

Did that include the coil lead cos it's the coil lead I really need !! Apparently, the set at $220 is the four plug leads and does NOT include the coil lead !!!!!!!

Hmm maybe see if they have any generic length spark leads that could be suitable

Found some at Repco Grey Lynn for $155 including so they're on the way to me now - thanks for the tip mate

Coil lead fitted and working awesome - power delivery seems smoother now and throttle response better. I think the old cable must have been really bad. I'll swap all the plug leads over at the weekend - may as well since I had to buy them !
