2jz gitas, valve stem seals still problematic?

Hi all

As project Soarer descends into madness...MADNESSS!!!, mainly because I cant stop thinking of new things to modify and mess with it, the requirements for a sensible daily driver have increased.

I am looking at getting a 2jz gita and wanted to know if the valve stem seals are still common issues. I had a search and all I could find for faults was lower ball joints, cd changer and some thoughts to avoid the 4wd version. anything else pop into mind?

every 2jz has problems with valve stems smoking on startup as far as i know, not too difficult to fix if you can take the head off etc yourself, can be done in place as well but not as easy.
current: 96' Supra RZS single Gt42 490kw at 20psi, daily - Hiace 2.7 van '05
previous: 92' mr2 g-limited, fuls gen 2 turbo conversion, steel ct20b, external etc etc :)
drift car: 94' silvia s14 sr20det 307kw @18psi

none of the 2JZ's ive ever own had issues. and they all had 200K on the clock give or take.

altezzas have issues with front bottom ball joints, front caster arm rear bush and that kinda thing. the JCE10 we had had 190odd on the clock and was still a very nice car, The issues you will have is, once you have driven a vvti 2jz, you wont want to drive a non vvti one

Cool, cheers for the info guys.

is the vvti 2jz better because of more low down torque?..... maybe I could super charge the soarer to get better low down performance.... oh no, not again......

an early 2jzge has a big surge come in at 3500ish rpm then torque starts dropping off after 5500rpm. a vvti one just punches out from idle, such a broader torque range
