Semi-slick wear in process?

Hey all, not a frequent poster but a long time reader

I've just bought a set of Achilles 123 semi's for my starlet to use at Pukekohe/Hampton. Before jumping straight on the track with new tyres is there anything I should do to them?

Also storage wise anything special to do/not do?

Store them in a dark cool corner if you can. Every time they heat up and cool down it takes some of the magic away.

The achilles have reasonable grip from cold, no need to prep them.

They arent a super amazing compound so you dont need to treat them with too much care, but yeah good practise to keep them stored away nicely if not in use as per above

Any new tyre will require a bit of running to get rid of the mould release compound. The sighting/warm up lap might be enough.. just dont go throwing the car into the first corner without scrubbing them in and expecting there to be anything like a decent level of grip. If you drive to the the track on them that'll take care of scrubbing them in more than likely.

As above ^^ they really just need one good heat cycle to get rid of the crap in them and being roughed up a bit before hitting the smooth track. I normally just take my new ones for a country drive before racing on them.

also whatever you do don't put any tyre shine/silicone on them as it will ruin them. it takes forever to get the silicone out of the tyre..

Do a big skid, rotate F/R and do another one. Done.
