Was researching this topic recently, as I scored some vintage
Watenabes for my AE86, and found the stock studs were not long
enough to get the proper number of turns on the wheel nuts. This
is what I found...

The only useful measurement is the length (measured from under
the head) as hub thickness and brake discs can affect the amount
of stud you can see.

All of these studs have the 14.17-14.20 knurl and will happily pull
into AE86 hubs without raising a sweat. A lot of the Toyota studs
are used on more than one vehicle, and may have "replaced by"
part numbers different from the original.

Thanks mate, I was JUST searching this very information to get something longer for the front of my KP.

Still got the 14" Harts I sold you some time ago?

Good info. Are the Landcruiser studs the longest available from Toyota, or did you just try a few examples till you found the length needed?

Sellers description was a bit astray, but they turned out to be a
pair of 14 x 6 (+16) and a pair of 14 x 6.5 (+9) which is good
enough for me 8) For some reason Wats just look like they
belong on an 86... and I'd been looking for a set for a while.

Loved the Harts but in the end gold wheels just didn't look right
to me on this car, so I sent them to a good home in Nelson. The
"Lexus" studs I knocked out of a Toyota MPV at Pick-Apart, and
they seem to be used on a whole bunch of different Toyotas. So
if they are long enough for you, they would be the easiest to get.

They are the longest 12 x 1.5 I found with the correct 14.20 knurl.
NICE Products in Aussie do a longer stud with a 14.30 knurl, and
it is claimed that these will press into the Toyota hub. I knocked
some 41mm studs out of a L300 or Hiace type van at Pick-Apart,
and they had a 14.30 knurl. BUT, when I tried them against the
AE86 hub I found that the base diameter of the shank with the
knurl was bigger than the hole in the hub (14.0 vs 13.73).

So you could look at the NICE S381 at 48mm long. Just check the
hole size in your hub and the shank size at the knurl. BNT have
them as stud c/w nut for about $12 a pop !!! The Cruiser ones were
over $8 each from Mark. ARP also do long studs for even more $.

I just fitted some ARP IS300 extended studs to my AE86. they are mega long:

Yea man, it was no trouble pulling them in. Had to pull the axles slightly on the rear though to get them in.
