hiace pissing out coolant problem

have a 93 hiace super gl

recently its started bubbling away when i stop (maybe bubbling when im driving) and pissing out coolant through the reservoir overflow.

Its not overheating, just sitting at mid temp all the time.

what the hells going on??

possibly a faulty radiator cap?

they are supposed to relieve after a certain amount of pressure in the system to prevent hoses blowing off etc.

I had exactly this issue with my old supercustom. It would drive fine but when i parked up and turned it off it would bubble up and blow coolant out the overflow. I had the radiator pressure checked and flushed, all fine. They suspected a cracked head so we used some chemi weld stuff as a temporary measure. Then a while later it started doing it again. I pulled the radiator out and found it was totally sludged up. Threw it away and got a new one, did water pump etc too and the problem went away.

So while a cracked head is possible, exhaust other avenues first, esp pull the radiator out and give it a decent flush.

Yup definitely get the radiator cleaned out, if its really gunky a flush may not be enough

'Bubbling away' smells like steam & boiling coolant, or like what's coming out the exhaust pipe?
If it isn't overheating & puking out coolant & steam like a volcano, then the radiator work isn't going to do it any good.

i replaced the thermostat and radiator cap this morning, and no more bubbling so far.

ill see how long it lasts

Did the same on a diahatsu I had. Lasted for about 3 days then started again. Was a BHG in the end.

turns out the radiator was leaking and rotten as $&#$%.

replaced that and shes all good now

Sweet good stuff :) Out of interest did the radiator have transmission cooling through the bottom? I've just assholed that setup on my new hiace and put an external trans cooler in. Best of both worls, decent cooling for the trans and stop pumping trans heat into the engine rad.
