Very smart move this guy know's his stuff rebuilt my Supra snails 4-5 years ago now and least to say they are still going strong.

To be fair all that means he is a competent turbo reconditioner, I would be worried if he wasn't.


I know of a certain GTR owner who used Steve Murch as his star witness against a certain tuner here in WGTN and won because of alot of the info Mr.Murch gave.

My point being if anyone in the forum world is going to give you advice with regards to what to buy I think he'd be pretty much the guy you'd want to talk to before alot of others or hear say that floats around the internet world.

I could be wrong, but I seriously dont think Coryn was trolling, or directing his comment at you, Dan. :)

Just making a comment, based on his own experience, that in his experience, Steve builds a good turbo, and knows much more than some out there.

Anyways...What was up with the sound on the Manfield clip? It sounded like somebody was hitting the camera repeatedly lol

Great results from that turbo in any case...I can see the potential growing too :)

GoPro sound is SHITE fullstop.

Even the "new and improved sound quality" that was promised with the H3B was nothing more than some words written on a box to dupe customers.

Anything over 20kph and all you can hear on mine is wind noise, which is an absolute embarrassment for the top tier action cam.

The H3B+ that was released this week has promised much the same improved sound but I guarantee its pap, just like all its predecessors.

I have bought two external mics and a 5 meter 3.5mm jack extension cable, in order to be able to get any sound worth using in clips.

Lol while this thread has been brought to life here is the turbo Steve built for me. I wont be using the exhaust housing that is on it.

i'm pretty sure that's the modern version (uses a newer compressor housing) of the turbo I used on the corolla. They are a punchy sucker.

Thought I'd update this thread for interests sake - A mates car S14 track car has been running a Kando Dynamics/Kinugawa TD05 16G for a while now... and it has been going awesome, no smoking or anything weird to suggest its going to have problems and response is very impressive. The car normally runs 16psi-17psi on the track, which is more than enough for it and it's just a stock motor, so don't want to push it too hard - but the owner decided to take it for a few runs at Masterton and so we went out and tweaked together a bit of a 20psi 'hero' tune.

The thing ended up trapping near 120mph, which is pretty decent going - so he decided to get a couple of power runs down on R's garage's (ex-Shred) dynapack to see what it's making... result was just over 270rwkw on it's ~17psi track boost level, and just under 300rwkw on 20psi. Full boost reached at about 3500rpm, and making over 200rwkw by 4000rpm - not bad for a $900 turbo on a stock 2litre engine, I reckon :)

Out of interest, the car runs flex fuel so had around 80% ethanol at the time of the dyno run - but on that note, we also ran out of injector... so couldn't go any higher in boost if we wanted to, so not too sure how much more the turbo would have given but it's fair to say 300kw @ wheels with that kind of response makes for a pretty impressive setup, even not considering the price.

Liking this very much, still have the kinugawa td05-18G sitting in its box on bedroom floor. Will get stuck in once I get back from Oz. What size injectors is he maxxing out? Need to make sure I buy something a tad larger in for an e85 tune in future.

True- you went the 18G... that will definitely be a bit laggier, we discussed the 18G but decided that the 16G6 would probably be a better balance for the Silvia, which basically needed as much response as possible and given it was on E85 I was pretty sure we'd be able to easily hit the 250-300kw target range :)

The car is on ID1000s with 55psi base fuel pressure, so you definitely need big injectors if you have a 4cylinder and you are aiming for 300+kw.

ID2000's are what I would get on a 4 cylinder going after big numbers

Yep, ID1000s are baby injectors if you are going E85.
