yeah that and probably the location of the oem turbo filter itself.. sits on the chra (pita to get to). and when shutdown the oil will just coke inside it especially oem doesnt have some sort of a turbo timer as standard.
the aftermarket solution relocates the turbo inline filter away from the exhaust and for easier servicing.

NO, else every other bearing in the engine would be affected along with the turbo, probably even before it had a problem and if a screen does clogg up, just think of how much stuff would have already passed through it, stuff large & numerous enough to take out its bearing in minutes.
The filter clogging is a self-inflicted-wound.

We have noticed this alot of late, people just arent interested in spending money on servicing and maintenance anymore and generally want the bare minimum done just to pass a wof. They just dont realise how important it is, mind you the automotive trade has taken a big plummit over the past 2 years or so, its not like the good old days..

Maybe a sign of the times?

I blew a hole in number one piston at mere mere. Had no way of getting me, my car and two passengers home (500km to palmy).
So i drove it home at 95km/h. Yes it filled the motorway with oil smoke, until i unplugged the injector for that blown cylinder. Yes, it smoked if i boosted it. But cruising on vacuum at 95km/h, it got us home.
my point being that you can do a lot of driving with bits of engine through your oil.

Re Brand:from memory, i bought an "EARLS" brand.

this advert says the falcon factory one needs replacing every 10000km. combined with poor access, you can see why it blocked.

Manufacturer recommended servicing intervals on new cars these cars are getting longer and longer.

Cheers mate, its not hard to be polite, although these days you could be forgiven for thinking its a long forgotten custom ;)

Ive never understood the logic of needing to act like a rude prick, just because you're behind a screen lol. Discuss things on a forum, as you would do when face to face with someone, seems pretty simple to me.

Truth^ I guess the advances in synthetic oils are helping with that, with 15k service intervals not entirely uncommon these days

Late model cars often have quite large oil capacities too, >6l which helps

Bah, try 11L in my Safari and its 23 years old. Good thing my brother can get me oil for a good price! :lol:

EDIT: +1 to not being a rude prick. Kids these days... in my day... we'd carry an onion on our belt, not a red onion though, cause of the war... etc
