Good wof place

Postby RS13 » Sat Apr 02, 2011 11:41 am

Hi guys,

My brother in law needs a good warrant place with reasonable prices, in the Wellington area. He just paid nearly $300 for a wof and oil change for his RunX, which is ridiculous.. it didn't fail on anything either.

So, recommendations would be much appreciated.. looking for somewhere with good rates, who are pleasant to deal with.. :)

Cheers,

James.

There is a big difference between the two as your service would include various other checks e.g. air filter, tyre pressures, fluid level/condition, even cleaning the throttle body

Had this happen at work.
A customer thought a WOF is a service. Years on end the car got WOF inspections done and one day the turbo packed up. (No surprises there) A ludicrous five figure amount was required for a brand new turbo.

I actually use my local when required - Cambridge Automotive in Naenae. Rod and Damien have great customer service, good pricing and explain the stuff they have to do if you need something extra. 2 guys who have invested their time and money into their business and are proud of what they provide. I believe they even bought the tyre shop next to them to offer a more complete package to folks.

Otherwise Hutt City Auto Services in central Lower Hutt also have excellent service and facilities, but it will cost you slightly more.

Oil change and other fluids checked.. I struggle to understand how they managed to charge what they did for the work they did! He is in Wadestown, so anything near the city really.

Some Wellington places are like $150 minimum for oil change. Then add an hour for labour for inspection at $80ish an hour then $45 for a wof...

That is quite steep, would of been interesting to hear them justify that cost.

We charge around 160+ for WOF and Service. That includes oil + filter and 45mins labour which covers everything.

We will always give a firm price without variance on servicing and repairs up front and will call the customer regarding any extra work that may be required with prices. We are known to be one of the busiest workshops in wellington with a huge customer base and very good reputation.

We are based on Taranaki st, Wellington CBD

Check our feedback.

Jason is good at what he does I reckon he could sell Ice to an Eskimo if needs be but on a serious note I get all my basic WOF repairs done for my car here and as above service and communication is great.

Could you get an itemised receipt? That would let you know where the charges were and how much.

Does this still apply? They're needing some work done by a good mechanic..

In the Hutt I've always used Wilson Auto Services in Gear Street, Petone. Not the cheapest but never once had an issue with any work they've done.

Crucible is Gav Harrison still hanging around Brendon Motors? Give him a kick in the arse and tell him its from Chopper if he is!
