How do you stop brake dust sticking to white wheels

Postby magweal » Tue Dec 24, 2013 1:57 pm

Hey Guys

I have white wheels which I can get clean with some Liquide Clay Bar (45min per wheel) but I'm sick of doing this every time I was the car, is the a product that I can put on them to stop the brake duct sticking, I can't seam to find anything that will do the job.
Do I need to bite the bullet and have them resprayed white and have some clear thorown on top??

Cheers boys

Which products have you tried so far, to keep the brake dust off?

I would firstly recommend a wheel wax, but Im guessing you have gone down this road already. If not, then there is no shortage of choice here. It all comes down to preference really.

The best way to avoid it bonding in the first place, is to wash the wheels as soon as you return from a drive, as then it doesnt get time to set in. I dont know what deisgn of wheel you have but some can be very tricky to get to the inside of the barrel without removing them, or atleast jacking the car up so you can get them from the inside.

What have you tried?

Personally I'd go low-dust pads and something like this.. http://www.meguiars.co.nz/G15009/

Wheel wax will definately help heaps. What are your wheels painted with though? Powerdercoating/Spraycan/Basecoat+Clearcoat/2K?
