Put in Cobra/random cheap brand into race car.

now 30mm higher at the front and 45mm higher at the back.

Next, wheel align, then gravel ...

Booked it a date with mechanic for a service. I haven't had to do that for about 8 years, felt odd. Mechanical warranty is the reason.

Also asked for a ballpark price on cambelt / water pump and all that jazz on a 3au, he laughed and said he hadn't done one for probably 20 years. Perhaps it's time I actually stepped up and taught myself how to do that part. What could possibly go wrong. Nek minute, 4age time.

Cambelts easy.
Mark up all the timing marks etc
Start with the crank pulley bolt first.

Haha if you get the timing belt wrong on a 3a you are trying your best to be useless.

Even if you get it wrong nothing untoward would happen and you'd just have to pull it to bits again.

Could say the same thing about all jobs though, no matter what trade or industry. If the brakes don't work after you've replaced all the rotors/pads/fluid, you must be trying hard to fail etc. No one is born with the knowledge to get it done.

Brakes are simple as anything to do, but only once you done it before. I've just never had to bother with replacing cambelts in the past, which is good haha. I do all my own car related work, they just haven't needed doing. It's done 70k and is 30 years old though, so figured it might be wise to do it. Will inspect the belt at some stage and go from there.

heh ok bud, fair call about being shown once.

But after that you are gonna be like ZOMG the hardest bit was just removing all the crap in the way...

I find the best way to make sure you don't get a tooth out is to mark the old belt to the pulleys and then transfer marks from the old belt to the new one. If the marks don't line up you've moved something.

a rwd 3a would be one of the most basic timing belts ever with easy access so this would be a good time to try.

Picked it up from my Mum cheap, parents sold their Dairy farm and moved over to Perth. She left it in my hands to sell, and after driving it round for abit, decided it would be a better daily driver than the GT-Four.

Will make a nice clubsport car too :D

So, as you may know I have spent the last few months giving my Trueno a bit of an overhaul.

It's finally back on the road, and I am quite happy with the result, I will get some pictures that aren't taken with my phone and put them up when I can, but for now

(excuse the dirty wheels)
