certification question.

Postby mega4a » Tue Jun 10, 2014 10:33 am

okay so ive been getting my car up to cert standard as i had been green stickered everything seems to be okay my wheel alignment all worked out exhaust is below 95 dba etc

one small problem as you can see i have cut a lil bit out of the radiator shroud for my intercooler piping on the right hand side in the photo now there was a factory hole there but i have made it tiny bit bigger not much at all but my friend Joe Kyle reckons this won't pass a cert i might even have to replace the hole front of my car now this seems silly as ? so what they want me to re run my pips and cut more hole in a different spot?

anyone else had issue with this is there anyway round it?

from what i could read if the modifcation was done before march something 1999 then it doesn't come under the frontal impact thing

Doesn't look particulary significant structurally. I would guess the certifier will either not care, or just to cover his arse might make you weld a bit of reinforcement around the hole. Only way to find out is to go talk to him.

This is the correct answer. Otherwise you'll just get random opinions from people who are not the person doing your cert.

Even asking a different certifier to the one you plan to use is a waste of time.
