In tank fuel pump options for a soarer

Hi All

I have a walbro 255 in my 2jzge soarer and I would like something that is a bit quitter but still flows around the same or maybe a bit more.

Anyone got any suggestions for one that will be suitable for an in tank install (plug and play would be best)

How much more fuel do you need? Is E85 on the horizon?

The new Walbro 400 range would be suitable, but it draws more amps than your current 255.

I wasnt thinking of going to E85, want the car to be a daily. I dont really think I need more flow that what a 255 will give (550cc injectors), but if I am going to change fuel pumps, having a bit more flow would be nice (helps justify the upgrade). Most important is that it will be quite and have consistant fuel delivery.

It might be easier to just sound deaden the fuel tank, start with the exposed part in the boot and see if that helps, before you think about pulling the tank out to do the cabin side. My old diff sounded like it was dying when I had the rear seats folded down, but sounded fine with them up (even tho it was pretty smashed up), so small changes can make a big difference to the sound.

I have had walbro pumps in the race car in the past so I know how loud they are . The last pump I got was a DW300 ( deushworks ? ) , happily flows enough to keep 4 ID1000 injectors going on E85, and so so much quieter . I thought the pump had stopped when I first replaced the walbro as I couldn't hear it running.

"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

Having tried one or two different pumps I have settled with the Deschwerks 300. Not noisy but you can here it running.
One other problem I have found (on the Soarer) is, that with the stock wiring some pumps don't like running on 9V.
On cold start car will run then die. Doing the FP bypass solves this, but I didn't like running the car with the by pass operating.
I have wired in a relay from the FP ECU so the pump gets 12V all the time and still retains the safety features of the FP ECU.
