Knock knock - who's there?

Postby cat007 » Sat Jul 19, 2014 10:53 pm

Run a bearing of some sort in the supra the other night. Sounds awful.

Pretty annoying but now it means I can pull the engine and do various things to it I've been wanting to do for a while.

Problem I have is, finding bearings for the 1G-GTE is proving to be rather difficult.

Does anyone on here have any suggestions, that isn't Toyota or Segedins?

Cheers

Would you consider a 1J/2J swap, or definitely going to stick with the 1G?

If anything I would do a 2j. But there's no realistic way I can afford the engine alone, let alone a new gearbox and everything that goes with it....

Yeah, I hear you. The 2J has almost double in price in just a few years :(

Thank god theyre so reliable, as I would hate to have to source a new one.

I'm sure Matt with the 1G Starlet had issues tracking parts down for his, he is on the Oldschool forum so could be worth a chat.

I think the K series similarity was the piston rings?

Definitely something the same between the K and G, rods? pistons? One version could be used, I recall looking into it when at Toyota but $&#$% if I remember what it was
