Factory remote locking/super live sound system

Postby KinLoud » Thu Apr 09, 2015 8:50 pm

Question re AE111
- it has remote lock buttons on the factory car key... Any reason I can't get this working again?
- what is the small box under drivers seat? It's not factory but perhaps fitted by dealer? Is it for the remote mentioned above? Seems to be wired into more than just basic power and earth.

- Toyota Super Live Surround Sound... Most of the system and wiring is still there even though a after market head unit has been fitted.
Extra amp in behind the centre console
What do people know about it? Extra speaker in rear parcel shelf is a sub?
Thanks
I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

The remote central locking should work no problem if the battery inside the key fob is still good and everything is still hooked up the way it was from factory. On the AE111's the receiver for the remote central locking will be on the rear-view mirror cover (should look black).

The black box under the passenger's seat will likely be the amp for the Super Live Sound System. If the wiring is still behind the aftermarket stereo then you can hook everything back up again without too much difficulty. The amp has likely been bypassed to run the speakers directly from the headunit.

Thanks for your reply

I don't think the box under the seat is an amp (I know exactly what you mean from my old AE101 GTZ)
The extra amp is behind and below where factory headunit goes. The wiring is still there for it.
Wondering if the extra amp just does the subwoofer or if does all 5 channels (incl sub)
Might have to trace wiring to/from speakers to sus out the system.
Was factory headunit double din?
Was the digital sound processing part of super live sound system in the amp or headunit?
Got some good info on the celica setup
See page 7 http://www.fujitsu-ten.com/business/tec ... f/7-1E.pdf
But no equivalent for AE111

Remote - will check battery voltage and replace if needed...
Was remote locking standard or factory/dealer option
I might trace wiring from the small box under drivers seat to see if it connects to Central locking system.

The black box under the drivers seat is the remote central locking controller,
they are almost factory but are fitted aftermarket somewhere and are not part of the OE loom,
They give a lot of problems and I have not been able to get new remotes or programming information on them.

We usually replace them with a NZ central locking remote kit.

The sound system wiring is sometimes simple and sometimes a nightmare.

Some have the standard toyota stereo plug in behind the radio,
but it is connected to the super sound loom which runs away to the amp and then from the amp to the speakers and then amp to the head unit.
This means that there is no connection from the head uint wiring to the speakers,
Sometimes they have more then the 4 speakers, sometimes a sub, sometimes not.

If you are lucky and it is wired that way, you can pull out the whole amp and loom and find the factory toyota stereo plug,
and you have a normal system.

Sometimes it is all part of the OE loom, and it's a PITA to do anything with,
and requires running wires to various places to get stuff to work.

Thanks Matt - good info for me to work on
Will sus out what wires go where and see if anything is useful
