That looks like GMB water pump? Cast impellers are shit. Genuine pumps come with pressed stainless steel impellers, much better than cast.

Yes it is/was a GMB one , but I disagree on the cast impellers being shit , they usually have a closed back which makes them work better . All the expensive pumps we use at work are closed back , pressed steel impellers are cheap to make and for cars are good enough .
The GMB one I removed was a pressed steel type .

"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

Undersealed under passenger compartment of the Starlet. Messy work and should have worn long sleeves, lost half my arm hair from rolling in the overspray.

I'd go tube frame if it were road legal but im fairly certain it wouldnt be. Likely going to be getting another shell and transferring all the good parts over.

Also no rotors, cant stand the sound of them

New shell and just swap over - or actually just take some photos to a chassis shop, they can straighten stuff you would think they would have no chance in hell of fixing. Some of the jobs I've seen done have been miraculous

MX5s are cheap as chips.. I'd just reshell it. Probably cheaper than repairing that at a decent panel shop.

I'm sure thats what people said about AE86s 15 years or so ago... One day MX5s will be scarce too!

One day.

But probably not worth keeping a bent car for 10 years until it becomes rare*

*says the man who turned down an AE86 for $1500 back in the day, so what do I know.

Yeah mx5 shells can be found for under 500, just a matter of finding one with live rego. Theres a racecar shell on trademe at the moment for 250 with a full cage but the rego has lapsed and you cant fit a roof over the cage

Acquired a better quality grinder from Mitre10 - this one didn't start smoking within the first 5mins of use which was nice.

Yesterday I washed my workshop , well ok not me , mother nature did . You would think she would know not to use silty water and that you don't wash buildings by filling them knee high with said silty water , oh well , guess I know what I'm doing for the next few days
