Gearbox leak after battery in wrong way??

Postby TRD_ZERO » Mon Jun 22, 2015 1:09 pm

I put the battery in the wrong way in my altezza luckily it only blew the head unit. Rookie mistake I know.... no thanks to the previous owner. But now Im getting a leak out from the gearbox bell housing. I've changed the gearbox and torque convertor but I'm still getting the same leak. Could putting the battery in backwards have damaged the ecu or something that controls the oil flow in the gearbox? I just find it hard to believe two separate torque convertors coincidently have the same issue. Any ideas what i can check or do before pulling the box off again and changing the torque convertor seal. Thanks any help appreciated.

Just checking the obvious - are you sure it's not engine oil from the rear main seal?

No it isn't. I checked that when I had the box off and it is all dry there. It's red oil dripping out the little hole at the bottom of the bell housing. It's just the torque convertor seal so I'll have to sort something out.
