Diagnostic box in a NZ AE82 GT

Postby Al » Tue Jul 21, 2015 7:11 pm

Had CEL today when my car decided to cough and splutter on start up, revs bounced around, then immediately shut off. I left it a minute and it restarted.

Went to look for the little diagnostic box and for the life of me couldn't find it.

Do the NZ new versions even have diagnostic boxes? I see there is three yellow plugs coming off a loom by the passenger side windscreen. Looks like two plug into each other, and the other one has a couple of slots with contacts in it. Is that some kind of ancient diagnostic tester?

Check wiring on the map sensor.
Make sure all connected properly

Mine did the same and I found it was that at fault

You can also just bridge the terminals down at the ecu if needed
