Car Washes/Detailing Auckland

Postby ptrain » Mon Aug 03, 2015 3:12 pm

Hi all,

Since I have my shiny new car, I want to take car of it properly. I live in an apartment complex where its difficult or impossible to give the car a good wash let alone detail it properly. Outside carrying buckets up and down from the kitchen!

Is there any DIY car washes around Auckland you would recommend? Do they let you use their bays to do your own stuff? Sealant and waxing etc?

I've found TJ's Car wash in Botany on Google has anyone used them before? Are they any good? They seem to be what I'm after. One thing that worries me is they advertise to commercial vehicles (trucks?). In my experience car wash equipment used for heavy goods vehicles carry tonnes of abrasive particles and can destroy paint work.

When I had a shed and space my process was:
Snowfoam
Rinse
Wash
Dry
Autoglym SRP
Collinite Wax
Clean the inside.

The car would shine like new for weeks! Used to take about 4 hours mind you

Depending on how often you do it and what you want to spend to keep car looking new I would do the following

A) If car is dusty \ lightly dirty do it at home using the following

Start with http://www.smitsgroup.co.nz/p4349v0/Meg ... y-Detailer
Finish with http://www.smitsgroup.co.nz/p4500v0/Meg ... e-Quik-Wax

FYI Youll need a ton of microfiber cloths (approx 10, 8 for step one and 2 for step 2)

B) If car is quite dirty, take it wash world to blast off the majority, then finish at home as per above

TJ's looks like they have a similar setup to Washworld, providing waterblasters and brooms full of dirt and soap.

www.ocdetailing.co.nz in Penrose would be the guys to go to.
