Last week, drove 2500km around the North Island on a bit of a tiki tour to check out some of the more remote parts of the place I hadn't been to. Didn't miss a beat

Bought another bike. First ever brand new vehicle for me (it's the small things...)

Been shopping for a daily bike for the past few months. To replace my little Yamaha.

I managed to put almost 30,000km on it in 11 months which is a lot of work for a little 150cc engine so it was starting to show signs of giving up and warranty is up this year so the timing was right. I was originally looking to buy 2nd hand but got an unbeatable deal on a brand new CF Moto 650 + the trade in value on the Yamaha was the same as I paid for it almost a year ago. I spent several days on the demo (pic below) I'm surprised at how much freedom I was given to just take it and bring it back when I was done. Also managed to negotiate 20% off servicing during my ownership



Mine just got delivered to the dealer yesterday so should have it end of this coming week once they do the pre-delivery and spec it up with the options/accessories I requested then it's run in time to get the 1000km's up for first service. Looking forward to it.

Made a cold air intake for the Aurion. Sounds shitloads better now that the V6 growl has been unleashed. And also installed this throttle controller. Thought it might have been expensive snake oil at first, but read good reviews about them and it certainly got rid of any response time lag due to the drive-by-wire, so turned out to be worth the money:

My IS350 has really good throttle response with the ETC set to POWER. You can dumb it right down for driving in traffic by setting it to SNOW. Otherwise just driving is Normal is fine.

Traction control is disabled by doing the "pedal dance". I've got that down to a fine art now.
I'm pretty sure the Aurion traction control is disabled in the same way.

Had a frustrating day at a gravel sprint.

I think something has gone bung in my gear shift cables or linkages (6sp into AE92), so I was struggling to locate gears. Stuffed several runs.

My mechanic is looking at it today. Hopefully he finds something, because the situation managed to 95% cure itself for the drive home.

Yeah with the throttle controller set to full acceleration mode (only level 5 of 9) it spins really easily when taking off in first, and that's on bone dry roads. Not looking forward to testing that in the wet, haha.

Sounds like the IS350 has the same sort of function built-in from factory. The SNOW mode on your one would be the same as the Economy mode on the aftermarket throttle controller. Goes from being a 3.5L Aurion to a 2.4L Camry in 2-seconds flat . Yep, disabling the traction control on the Aurion is done the exact same way. I've watched a number of YouTube videos about how to do it but have never tried it myself yet. I have fitted a stability control button from a Mark X but haven't hooked it up yet, so for now it just sits there looking cool. We did something similar with my brother's old GT-T (auto) Caldina where we rigged up a fog light switch to disable the VSC. Much easier than that damn pedal dance

I'm all for people having a crack and learning things, but when their cock ups cause this, I rage a little/fuckin heaps




Previous owner wired up the stereo, exceptionally poorly. Somehow switched 12v feed was left to dangle, and consequently arced out and melted right back to the fuse box. I pillaged an AW11 at Zebra while in Auckland the other week for it's loom, but being an NA auto it's a little different to mine. Bit of fun ahead making it work in my car!
Bonus: Stereo wiring plug is pristine and unmolested

It's actually pretty straightforward tbh, the wireless controller makes it so much easier.
Bonus: I can do remote controlled burnouts when I'm too drunk to drive!

Found out the "spare" doesnt fit over the brakes on the POS levin! haha. I'll have to try and steal the spacesaver out of the sprinter in the morning and hope that fits.

See how it goes at a competitor coaching day at Manfeild in a week's time.

Last time out at a street sprint in the 86 it cooked the brakes quite thoroughly.

Our little man isn't here until the 30th, but after trial fitting we are impressed. And only heard great things about it. I'm sure Scott/Kiwi-Corolla will chime in, I believe he has a few of these.

Great choice for the car seat!! Definitely the best of both worlds with the ProRide since it can be forward and rear facing. Coincidentally, we went out and bought a Recaro Monza for our 4.5 year old son today as his Young Sport was getting a little awkward to use as a booster whereas the Monza is a dedicated booster seat. The Young Sport will be kept for when our 6mo is old enough to use it. They now sell these Sparco child seats at Redline Performance for a good price too, which is pretty cool:

Thanks guys. I've got a couple of the front facing ones, they're a great product. Guess I've always been suss about a seat that does both, going on the "jack of all trades theory". Prefer ISOFIX seats where possible as well, though there are not any out there.

Checked out the sparco range online, that capsule might be with a look, price is pretty competitive. Have you seen them up close (is that your seat in the photo?)

Uninsured driver backed out of their drive into my car. I had seen them coming and had stopped and sounded my horn, but to no avail.

Bumper and parking sensors damaged.

Can foresee insurance issues as the damage to my car is on the front bumper.

Can the insurance assessors tell that she backed into my car from the angle and the pattern of damage?
