ST215 3SGE Rocker Cover Correct Torque

Postby lord3210 » Thu Dec 03, 2015 1:43 pm

Hey there Everyone

I about to replace the Rocker Cover Seals of my Caldina but I'm wanting to know if any knows,
what the correct torque is when I need to tighten the rocker cover bolts back on again.

The Engine is a 1998 ST215 3SGE non-turbo.

Any Help is greatly appreciatted.

Cheers

It may not be helpful to you as its not a specific torque rating, but when I did my cam cover gasket on my ST183, I didn't torque them, but just wound them hand tight, then they took another turn on the spanner before they started to feel stiff and tighter, but not crazy clamped down, then after a heat cycle and letting it cool once again I was able to get another half turn out of them, and then on the next heat cycle I was able to get a quarter turn

checked them again a month later and they were pretty sweet, no more needed, and even before the second tightening, it was not weeping oil on the first run after replacing the seals, so you probably don't need to go too crazy with them

Thanks for that mate, If I can't find the correct numbers, I'll definitely give your solution a try.

6Nm/61kgf.cm/53in.lbf is for the GEN 3 3SGE in the ST20* Celica which is similar to the ST215? Is it a BEAMS?
