Dropped the fuel tank out of the MR2 last night, 20 litres of 6 year old fuel. My shed smells like turpentine :? Will marine clean it up, throw a new pump in and see how it goes

Ohhh 2GR in the Estima. Looks like the shocks would be a pain to change due to the way they shoehorned the engine in there, but what do they go like performance wise?

Yeah pretty much...

Driver's side = move the coolant tank out of the way and manoeuvre a hand between the wiring loom and wiper motor to access the nuts - 1 you can see and the others you do by feel.
I used a flat ratchet spanner, bent ring spanner and 3/8" ratchet.

Passenger's side = remove the battery and move the brake fluid reservoir out of the way to remove the airbox lid to get at the nuts. Socket and ratchet then easily accesses all 3.

Performance is pretty good for what it is. They use the 6 speed auto which helps keep the 2GR in the zone to shift all that weight.
Here's a video I made a while back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hk4S15Vz7uo

Open road handling is pretty respectable, and the 4wd eliminates any torque steer or wheelspin. 2wd mode is pointless around town.

Picked up a 2001 Vitz RS.

Seems to have been played with. It's very low, very stiffly sprung, has strut braces f&r, has slotted discs f&r, and when I looked in the sunglasses cubby hole, I found an Apexi SAFC2 living in there.

Shall have to explore.

It's hilarious to drive, and faaarkin loud.

Well I'm entering this one in a hillclimb in a week and a half, so I will let you know if it's any good :)

Oh, and having got it on a hoist, it has a bunch of subframe braces fitted, and braided brake lines.

Finally got the rounded off head bolt out of the 4AGZE, spent about 4 hours on the $&#$% thing. Literally 4 minutes to do the rest
Found out why the speedo wasn't working, and who would have thought hanging onto a spare part for 15 years would be worthwhile

Hopefully get flywheel machined tomorrow, and new clutch should arrive too 8)

Put new brake pads in the Vitz, chucked the race rubber on it, gave it the first stage of the polish treatment until the polisher velcro adhesive conked out.

Getting a little bit of tyre rub on the front, will have to see if it is on anything important.

I've been wanting another first gen for aaaaages, and most are overpriced or $&#$%. This came up at a decent price, and although it needs a shit ton of work, its a long term project for me. Reasonably happy with it, though its a giagantic step back from the sedan.

Fitted some slightly larger tyres up front to fill up the guard gap a little better. Other benefit is that it brings the lip of the rim further away from potholes and is a bit more comfortable since you don't feel every dip and crack in the road. Fronts are 225/40/19 and the rears are 235/35/19. The old tyres are only a few weeks old, but the wheel-well gap was bugging the hell out of me, so for now I'm happy :)
