3sgte Caldina BOV bad rattle

Postby steve74 » Tue Aug 09, 2016 7:58 pm

I noticed that the wife's car was rattling like a bag of nails when idling in the drive, when I popped the bonnet I tracked it down to the factory BOV. You can actually feel and hear it knocking away. Is she poked or is something else causing this? What effect will it be having as the car seems to run as normal? Do I just get one from a wrecker or is there a better aftermarket alternative.

Keeping in mind it's a family car we use for around town and long distance driving, not a dumped on its bum boost monster trying to impress the girls at the lights

You sure it's the BOV? Even a leaking BOV shouldn't make the car stumble on idle due to the engine being a MAP sensor engine.

If it's a family car best to just replace the faulty part with a factory part, I'm sure they'll be plentiful since all the kids wants to go PISSSHH.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

Na, it don't seem to worry it, it's just rumbling away like something is loose inside the diaphragm, when the revs pick up it stops, I guess due to vacuum or pressure in the thin hose.
