Grease driver side wheel arch - CV boot seems intact

Postby blobbi » Fri Sep 16, 2016 5:48 pm

I changed my brake pads a couple of weeks back and then yesterday saw some grease on inside of the driver side wheel arch. I thought it must be the outer CV joint. I changed the boot today but in all honesty although it has deteriorated I could not find a hole in it that would cause the loss of grease and there was heaps of grease in the boot. Am I missing somewhere else that this grease might be coming from or could it have crept out of the ends or similar?

Thanks

Earlier failure that hadn't been cleaned up?

Thats what I thought but it wasn't there when I did the brakes the other day and the boot I took off looked like it was on the car for a while. Maybe one of the clamps was loose or it chucked out some grease under pressure.
