Oh, and now that I can seemingly access the forum from my PC again, here's a pic of the pistons from the smallport - lots of evidence of blowby there. Big ends show signs of neglect/abuse, but the crank is fine. Mains are like new!

Failtastic ctrl+c  Updated now.
Zero progress on Corolla, because I realised trying to build a turbo motor while having an inaccessible single car garage and near vertical driveway was a silly choice, so in the process of buying a better suited house/garage combo.

Going to be selling the Altezza V8. Looks like no immediate takers, so will have to brave Tardme.

Though looks like I should be able to do another Manfeild Autocross in it on Sunday.

Yeah haha, worst case they will be perfect for keeping the car rolling while its off the road getting worked on, and its current wheels refreshed, and maybe chuck on for the odd car meet or something :P - freight stung me hard though, cause they have to go on the ferry, but still cheap enough :P

Not today, but this month - I got some factory FD wheels, sold the 17"s, and fitted some lovely new Potenza RE003 in the stock 225/50R16 size.

That looks really good with the factory wheels. The 17s look nice too if that's them in the background?
You'll love the RE003s. Plenty of grip all round.

Thanks, the 16s do look great for stock wheels. The 17s were very nice wheels, 3 piece Racing Beat. But the ride (on country roads) is so harsh on these cars, even with my stock suspension, that more tyre profile was called for. It also tramlined a bit with the low offset. Now I get to experience the car as Mazda intended.
I've got RE003 on my 6 wagon as well. They are very confidence inspiring, although a bit loud for a family wagon.

I found them a little louder than what I had before but then I changed wheel and tyre size quite significantly.

205/55/R15 on 15x6.5 and 225/50R15 on 15x6.5 in Toyo T1R with very soft sidewalls to 215/40R17 on 17x8 and 245/40R17 on 17x9 to the RE003 which being lower profile would make sense they are a bit harsher and louder but not by enough to be annoying. Running Prothane bushes and TRD springs makes the ride a little less comfy but the response in steering is so much better. The T1Rs were comfy but sidewall flex made the steering response slow and spongy and on the limit the car would move around far too much on the tyres.
