Coolant leak Caldina GTT
Appears to be coming from somewhere underneath the thermostat housing. Its not the housing though, i was wondering if its the little black hose underneath? I cant even get a mirror inside to see it.
any ideas guys?
cheers

Hose from hell? This connects from the oil cooler to the block I believe. A common enough thing to fail on the 3S engines. Not much fun to replace with the engine or turbo in the car but I think these are a bit easier than the earlier engines.

Ok from doing some reading, its actually the other one 'the hose from hell on earth' that seems to be gone. This seems a bastard to get to, there another pump thats in the way?
Re: Coolant leak Caldina GTT
Sorry. HFH is 16282, the vertical straight hose. The one we think is the issue is the HFHOE. They are both a pain to get to but I think the Caldina engine makes it a bit easier to fix this one. Not that I have done either. I have done a GEN2 3SGE oil cooler hoses which are different but still a massive headache.

Okkkkk so I replaced the HFHOE, not the worst job i ever done. Still bloody leaks!
So i had a mess around with a USB endoscope camera I have, and discovered a pinhole in one of the freeze plugs under the hose.
That looks like an arse to replace? I dunno how i can even get to it?

Re: Coolant leak Caldina GTT
That's no fun. Good to hear the HFHOE wasn't too bad to replace in the car. GEN2 and GEN3 engines connect into the water pump so are much harder to sort.
That's not good, not sure how to replace frost plugs.

Re: Coolant leak Caldina GTT
Im thinking it may be easier to replace the car at this point lol
My Ac system hasn't worked for ages, Can i delete the system and remove the pump? May be able to get to it if I do this. I would probably need a different belt for the alternator though

Re: Coolant leak Caldina GTT
You could remove the pump if there is no pressure in the system. Then just put it back when you've finished the fix so you don't need another belt.
I'm in need of a GEN4 3SGTE.... with a Caldina attached.
