KZN185 Anchor Bolts

Postby Boosted_162 » Sat Dec 14, 2019 9:24 pm

Hey guys.

So i'm finally back (kinda) in camp Toyota!

Sold my Subaru last week and picked up a KZN185 Hilux Surf today. Using it as a weekend toy and to tow my Jetski.

Anywho, I need to put an anchor bolt/tether in the back for my sons car seat. Can't see anywhere obvious in there, anyone done it before/seen one done before and got any hints or tips before I go pay someone?

Cheers!

havent they got two loops set in the floor near the rear of the cargo area?
they are a great wagon, did you get intercooled? They are still pretty expensive, haven't come down in price at all in the last six years, despite racking up the mileage.
contact me if you need a 3 inch down pipe to get that heat out of the head to reduce the chances of it cracking. There are power and fuel economy gains to be had too.

There is but they aren't rated for car seats, they are more luggage tie downs. I thought about removing one and replacing with a proper anchor but seems like it may be too far in the corner? Will need to investigate.

Nah it isn't intercooled. Mines done 367k and I paid $6500 for it, but it had a brand new head 3 months ago at $2500 and a rebuilt trans 3 years ago at $2600!

Exhaust is definitely on the cards, probably tyres and suspension first up.

sounds like you got some decent value there. well done. My mate has one (non intercooled) with similar km to yours, and with a 3" down pipe and exhaust, at 10psi boost it is faster than my 2.7 ETI intercooled Mistral at 14-15psi (but with stock exhaust system).
Go for a external trans cooler if you intend any beach work or towing.
