If the exterior was carbon fibre I would have a carbon fibre dash as well

Are painted body panels rice? Must be about an extra kg or so of purely cosmetic paint slowing every car down. Interior is just the same, dont make ya go faster, but makes it look nice, if speed was every ones forte, they wud be manufacturing cars with no interiors/carpets/seats, and rollcages and huge engines. What ever floats your boat i say, and i reckon my spray painted dash looks nice.

mmm, since some people think nothing should be done other than performance. why don't u guys just take out all the panels and back seats, and scratch all the paints off, remove the rubber dash, remove carpets, remove the headlight, rear lights.... there, its so light that u can go so fast, it might not pass the WOF, but performance is so important that it even worth it........
i don't think i ever c any cars like that other than down in wreckers.

actually, good on u. i reckon if u wanna go all performance, go for it. i just can't c lots of people doing what they are saying. rice this and rice that.
anyway, good to c one of my favorite cars is gonna get nicely modded. hope to c some good news soon.
Put it this way... You dont see the average ricey gto that cruises around akl city to have trimmed vinal interior do you ? They usually just have heaps of stickers,a gt wing (shopping trolley handle)... and visible neon rods which are absolutely horrible! . Most cars in shows have mint trimmed vinal interior to suit the cars look. And that my fellow friends isnt rice... ITS NICE!.

rice
I like rice, rice is nice..........................I think each to their own on this one!
Ive seen some things I think rock and others which make me nearly piss myself with laughter and at the same time trying to figure out where it all went so horribly wrong!
Check this out, I own one of these baby's but this is Vehicle Abuse of the worst kind!
(Note the poor muppet that died for the interior!)
(Note also the styling custom front end on her!)

Some people don't know what rice is or how it formed.
Rice is only rice if it doesn't have the power to back it up.
For example, a show Honda CRX, standard engine, maybe a chrome tip on the exhaust, but all this flashing interior, and ugly bodykit, that is rice.
But a show Evo/STi with standard engine, and flash interior, bodykit, etc, wouldn't be rice, because it will go fast.
Rice orignally came from "Rice Pudding". Cars such as Civics, CRXs, Corollas, Starlets(non gt), etc, basically anything 1.0L - 1.6L dealers would call a "Rice Pudding" because they were weak, and so is rice pudding.
Then came rice burners, which were basically Civics, or any other car from the list above with some mods, like a muffler, wing, etc that was named a rice burner.
Now if you have neons, wing or anything it's classed as rice.
Do people call D1US/JP cars rice? Hardly any, only a few. Because they have the power to back it up, hey Nomuken has neons on his R34, but it's not an underpowered car, so it's not rice.
So basically, if it's underpowered, like mine for example, 1.5L Impreza, with 22B STi wing and RPS muffler, some would call rice, some would just say "meh" but if it was a real STi people wouldn't say rice.
It all depends on the power, not the looks.
