only engine i have seen that can be buzzed +12,000rpm and still run as if nothing had ever happened

snaped a cambelt... still runs

take it to the track and beat it all day... still runs (and beat it all the way home :wink:

)

230,500 to date of pure beatings... still runs.

15.6sec 400m full trim, 87fwkW, 700km to a tank.

im not even going to bother to search if there is a "better" 1600cc engine because what more do you want?

Never seen a standard 4AGE rev that high and keep running? 12A's on the other hand....

I had a bzv with 36000 kms on it, the fuel economy was INSANE, and it was quick too, although i was only 16 when i had it... so maybe it just SEEMED quick

nope, failed to take 3rd and found 1st @ 95km/h. screwed the thrust berrings in the gearbox, but not the engine.
Had my foot in the firewall before clutch was droped which saved compression lock.

I've owned 2, BZ Touring Carib with a black top and a AE101 with a silver top. Go well for what they are and make good reliable dailies. Would consider owning another one one day.

I owned a mint AE111 with a blacktop. It survived being thrashed over Paekak hill everyday and down the strip at Masterton & Taupo. Never had a problem with it, was an awesome car!

Sold it for a house. Why??? I miss my car :cry:

Currently own a B/T. Must say they do go incredibly well, even stand up to being driven HARD up & down the Kaimais. Sitting at 263,XXX kms at the moment, makes a few funny noises from time to time & uses a little oil. It has never broken down on me (only car I've ever owned that hasn't). Personally, I wouldn't own another - sick of the FWDness - unless a financial crisis forced me to buy something small & fwd.

using silvertop as a daily in ae82 for past 7mths. put bigends in before conversion. gets hammered daily. little bit smokey and vvt pulley has tracktor sounds.. but cant complain with 265k on it

building turbo blacktop rwd for another project

that is one hell of a gearbox if the 1st gear syncro can syncromesh 1st gear for 95kph

as for 20v engines... been there, not going back. ever.

So.... many.... gear changes... required for daily driving..... due to the abundance of earth spinning torque it has :twisted:

Maybe if it was automatic :oops:

I'd say an automatic 20v would have to be the worst thing ever. Current one is pretty decent, but must have a shorter final drive than others I've driven, as it can pull up hills in 5th...

I doubt its anything special, the rest of the car is mechanically stock. Does do 3500 @ 100k in 5th though, whereas I'm sure Penny's old FX did 3000.
Auto plus any small displacement motor = fail, let alone one that makes peak power on the rev limiter :lol:

I love the feel of the BZG/R's and a lot of that is the engine feeling "right" for the car.

I would take a B/T over any average turbo in say a legacy/323 etc,

Responsive and smooth.

i lovedd mine i had so much more fun beating it on the back roads than i do in my supra (for some SICK SICK strange reason :roll:

) maybe it was the itb's? but thats why im making some itb's for my supra ( not only to be different but itd sound cool as and itd may help with reducing lag when i go tt

(they have it on the gtr and there was an as$ load of r & n go into that so i dont think that there a too bad-a idea

lol i love that reaction yea don't worry even supra owners like gtr's but yea back on topic id definately own another 20v i felt more 'at home' in my ol' ae111 than in me supra i think its cause the supra is so big, heavy and mushy suspension-wise
