turbo extractors hitting oil filter

i got myself some turbo extractors but when i tried to install it i found it was hitting my oil filter

my oil filter doesnt bolt directly onto the block
instead there is this alloy spacer (blacktop 4age)
its a standed item as i have seen it on many 4ages but i have also seen them without

i tried to remove it so i could put the filter directly onto the the block but it fits differntly

any susgestions as to how i can over come this problem

remote mount your filter. I had the same issue and thats what i ended up doing

yea that what i thort but im unsure about the clearance ill get from doing it

im using one of those ssteel extractors from trademe

does yours have the alloy spacer that i mentioned?

would it be posible for you to take some pics of yours and email them to me?

Take that spacer off and bolt a filter relocation kit straight onto the block. You'll have all sorts of problems doing oil changes if it's going to be that close to the manifold.

Or you can take that alloy thing off, take threaded tube off the center of alloy thing and screw it directly into the block and the oil filter should go straight into that.

Yea ill try do that and use an oil relocator kit but for memory its not taht easy coz the way the spacer is fitted to the block i dont think that i can just replace the thread thing but ill have a look when i do an oil filter change

yeh ya can, im using a 20v block with oil filter screwed straight to the block. think i stole the center threaded tube from a dead 16v.

If you want to fit the filter onto the block, you will have to grab a threaded tube from a 16v block, as the 20v ones once you screw it into the block, doesnt leave enough thread to screw the filter onto. Been there tried that.

Is that just the case with filter and not a relocator kit? because im using the threaded tube from a 20v and my relocator kit screws onto it.

still wont work as there will be nothiing in the block for it to screw too.

You will need the threaded tube.


Try genuine, i have bought one of two over the years from the dealerships, and if you get a deal they are not too bad.

use a bluetop 16v or fe series threaded bolt to fit the oil filter......

Only if you screw the filter onto the block.
The filter will go on, but with only a few threads till it becomes tight, as the tube is too short.

I think I know what type of manifolds you bought.

As most people have said, remove the alloy spacer part, get the threaded tube bit out of a 16v block and screw that into the 20v block.

Use a oil filter that will fit with the manifold and turbo in place.

No need to waste you $ on an oil filter relocation kit, but ideally you should be running an oil cooler witha turbo setup!
