Removing doublesided trim tape from paintwork?

Trying to remove the double sided trim tape stuff that holds monsoon guards on my car, any ideas what to use to aid removal of this stuff?

I have taken the monsoon guard off but alot of the tape/residue is still there and is hard to remove, I have tried prepsol but still doesnt seem to help much, Any ideas?

I've been in that situation before and found the best way was to work away at it with your finger tips, rubbing it. It gave me a blister, and took ages but nothing else I tried worked. That way won't ruin your paint work either.

Heatgun on low setting will help to soften the adhesive & make it easier to remove, hairdryer will do the same job if you don't have a heatgun

i used wax and grease remover on the old sign writing glue. it softened it up and came off like blu-tac

al thos work but take ages
we use a rubber wheel on a mbx but you can get them for a drill will take 2 mins compared to 2 hours

That's what I've been told too.

Yeah, prepsol etc works, but ffffark it takes forever.

Would a plastic scraper damage the paintwork? I had to do this with my Curren as (I think) a psycho ex-flatmate broke mine, so they had to come off. No idea how I removed the tape though.

If the paints good, water blaster at close range... if paints crap it'll take the paint off too.

locksmith we use @ work does this everytime we replace the monsoons on a stole subaru.. he uses a caramle wheel or some such, like a rubber wheel but it shreads before it gets to hot to damage the paint.. smells nice too.. or just get some prepsol and put the masty hand to work :lol:

+1 for the heat gun but if you use one of those don't get too close to the paint or run it across the paintwork for too long. It WILL bubble. use a blunt scraper very carefully to get excess off, and then meths works well.
