Re: The Great 4AGE Hand Grenade Debate

Yeah, I'm in at least $30k into my $2k Corolla so far :) If not far more than that, I try not to think about it. My Toyota GT86 was wayyyyy cheaper at $30k (depending on your point of view).

Re: The Great 4AGE Hand Grenade Debate

Talking of exhausts on 4AGE's, I had a quick look around at headers for my stock(ish) silvertop AE92 rally hack, since for the first time in 16 years it isn't running a stock(ish) exhaust system.

It's like $850 ish for what looks like headers that fit the bill well from MRP, or about $1500 to get a ...

Re: Runx Z value..

People don't really lust after them, even in manual, as it's (in my humble) a shape that hasn't aged particularly well. As much as I like those Corolla's as a vehicle, they're pretty frumpy.

I'd guess $3-$4k ish, as body repairs are fricken expensive.

Re: When do you draw the line with your car? (Daily driver)

I bought a 2002 Corolla with 470k on the clock, and only sold it because I part swapped it for an 86. Otherwise I'd probably still have it in the driveway.

TK test to see if you've maybe got a really slight headgasket seep that isn't showing itself in road use?

Re: Tyre longevity

Yup, fuel economy went downhill when I had the brand new budget tyres on the front, half worn Ecopia's on the rear.

After a few tanks, I did a front/back swap, to put the new budget rubber on the back, and the half worn Ecopia's on the front.

Fuel economy immediately improved.

But, important ...

Re: Tyre longevity

I've got Ecopia's on the Prius. Well, two of them anyway.

They are terrible in the rain.

Ended up replacing two with normal budget tyres, just because the fuel economy ones my tyre supplier could get hold of were both terrible in rating, and also expensive.

Re: Tyre longevity

Two years is not good, assuming the cracking is serious.

I'd be going back to the purchaser, and asking them nicely to see if they will stand behind what they sold.

Going to be selling the Altezza V8. Looks like no immediate takers, so will have to brave Tardme.

Though looks like I should be able to do another Manfeild Autocross in it on Sunday.

Autocrossed the Corolla on Sunday.

Apparently I managed to win the event, which is a bonus. Though to be fair, I was helped a LOT by two of the usual fastest guys having a bad day out.
