Doesn't matter what you put in to replace the broken stud, if the manifold is warped, then the stud will break again, increasing size won't increase life.
My guess on the the "repair" goes something like this...
⋅ Manifold warps, breaks stud (possibly due to fatigue from repeated stress ...

If it's the type of nut that needs one of these sockets, just take to an old socket with a grinder

Re: st215 drama
Some scan tools work, most don't. Easier to bridge the TC & CG pins on the connector for ECU codes (IIRC it's pin 12 & CG for ABS codes)

Re: Caldina GTT no overdrive
Found this picture online and comparing it with your schematic, is it the black 2 pin sensor pointing right at the camera just below the Mount bracket? Thanks for your time

Re: Caldina GTT no overdrive
Just thinking, it must be faulty sensor, if I start the car from cold and drive it, it won't go into O/D for the whole drive, after 15 minutes the O/D light begins to flash (as per what you posted) . Logic says the trans won't be going into O/D as it thinks the trans oil isn't warm? (due to the ...

Re: Caldina GTT no overdrive
Looks like it might have overheated or you have a faulty temp sensor.

Re: Caldina GTT Hard To Start
There are two Intake Temp sensors, one in the air filter, the other in the manifold. AFAIK the one in the manifold is what is used by the ECU to determine fueling, never figured out what the one in the air filter is for, but I suspect it has something to do with start up.

Re: Caldina GTT Hard To Start
Firstly,I appreciate your help dude.
I checked on the car today, once started, the car fires up nicely does not blow any black smoke nor stutter.Just has a smooth idle like its meant to.
I'm still trying to familiarise myself with the engine, not much info/images of a caldina 3sgte on trademe.Worse ...

It is what I am using as a cheap fix for some engine mounts.
Thanks for that.
At 80 Shore D it might be a bit hard for what I want, but it's cheap enough to try and see if it's usable.

Source for castable urethane resin.
Anyone know where can I get castable urethane resin (or putty), preferably around Wellington or Tauranga, or online.
Need some around 50-60 Shore D (100 Shore A) hardness.

Re: How to clean engine parts covered with black burnt on oi
Oven cleaner is often caustic and will damage aluminium.
You could try getting an old crockpot, put parts in and fill with undiluted propylene glycol antifreeze, enough to cover the parts, and leave it on high for a few days, then rinse and scrub the parts with a soft wire(brass) brush. Depending ...

Re: Man-maths moment [97 MR2 turbo swap]
I don't see how a V6 MR2 is any more desirable than a Turbo, or for that matter even an NA, to me it is far less desirable than a stock Turbo. As it ages it will be come even less desirable because people tend to look for an unmolested pristine example of the car they want.

Replacing one Italian with another won't change anything. The culture will remain the same and they will continue to go backwards until there is radical change in the internal team politics... given past experience that should only take about 20yrs
