I'm running German made Eagle F1 asymmetric 245/18 and 265/18's on the supra, have done about 20,000k's and the rears "could" last another 10,000, fronts are only 50% worn.

Previous tyres were utter crap on the stock wheels so I can't make a proper comparison, but I think they are awesome ...

Thanks for the replies. Also got a price on the RE002's, they are about equivalent to the top of the range Goodyear Asymmetrics, or about $60/tyre more than the 5's. Guy at Bridgestone told me the RE002's are a softer tyre though so not great for wear but grip was unbelievable.

I think for the ...

Thanks. What are you comparing them to on the front?

I'm a bit underwhelmed, thought more ppl would be using them considering the popularity of the GSD3

Eagle F1 Directional 5's

Hey all,

Not for a Toyota, but wondering if anyone is using the new Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional 5 tyres? Apparently they replace the GSD3's. Anyway wanting to know how they are wearing. From memory the GSD3's were a bit softer so werent the best for wear? Any comments welcomed, cheers

I guess it had to happen sooner or later, charging to provide even the most basic info.

Over here in Aussie, there is a similar thing called a REVS check and you dont get anything free. It provides similar info to Carjam plus any recorded accident history. Damn expensive though, between $25-50 ...

Dont put a 20W oil in it, its too thick when cold and you wont get the protection. As suggested, use a 15w40 or even a 10w50 or 15w50, as its a bit thicker when at operating temp which is probably when its burning it

The stock shocks are made by KYB so are decent, dare I say better than aftermarket Monroes.

I'm not sure if Toyotas pricing has changed in the last few years but when I bought a new set of shocks for my AE101 S/S back in 2006 they werent any more expensive than non S/S.
