I know that with the hanger bearing setup the auto vs manual gearbox/driveshaft combo can't be mixed and matched.
Have to manual driveshaft for manual box as the lengths are slightly different and the hanger bearing won't bolt to the block

Go Goodyear Eagle F1 directional5
My last 2 sets have lasted 60,000km each - makes cheap tyre per km cost!
Great grip wet and dry

Re: 1JZ running hot on track, IC blocking radiator?
Air will try to go around an obstruction rather than through it
Block up any tiny gap to make sure all the air can only go through the radiator.
Seal between the edges of the inter cooler and the radiator - so any air that has gone through the intercooler cannot escape and go around the radiator ...

Re: Tyre longevity
I have had a personal policy of putting high performance tyres on my cars for the last 15 years.
The last 2 sets of tyres have been Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional.
Lots of grip and enjoyment (and safety
Both sets got more than 60,000km so the cost per km of the tyres was the same or better than lower ...

Re: buying a Ute - help/opinion
Awesome info thanks
Looks like our priorities have changed - just bought a small tipper truck
But will keep our eyes out for a ute in a couple of months.
We do know someone who was onto the 3rd gearbox in her Ranger Ute!
Had only done 40,000km

Re: buying a Ute - help/opinion
For our building industry business
Mostly on road - sometimes towing 2 - 2.5 ton load (trailer with small digger)
Needs 4wd for getting onto building sites with digger.
Probably 30 to 40,000 kms per year.
Thanks

GPS vehicle tracking - needing 2 or 3 units for our business

Suspension - upgrade it
Big power with soft suspension - not as much joy as you might hope
Great in a straight line if you can put up with the nose rising 10cm when you get on the gas

Re: 7M-GTE track oil pressure to low?
Hi
Where is the oil temp sensor? Sump, filter?
The "oil pressure rule" of 10 psi per 1000rpm is misleading - required oil pressure depends on bearing width/area, clearances etc.
no use shimming the oil pressure bypass valve spring to up the pressure without checking the engine specs and clearances ...

Re: Rebuilding turbo, possibly DIY?
Turbo oil leaks are almost always because something is blocked
- check oil drain from turbo back to engine
- make sure engine breather system is working properly
Problems with the above increase pressure in the turbo oil cavities and push oil past the seals into the compressor or the turbine ...

Re: Question on Turbo cooling
I guess as long as it isn't passing through so quickly it doesn't get a chance to draw as much heat out as it might otherwise do, can't be a bad thing.
What do Evos use sizewise?
Faster flow is better
Heat transfer is proportional to the difference in temperature between the hot part and the ...

Re: AE111 exhausts Carib same as levin?
Thanks Mark
Got an exhaust from a blacktop Carib at Zebra in Manukau
It's a bit of a PITA because when they took the CAT out they just welded a pipe between the flanges so it was a 30 minute hacksaw job.
Gonna see if I can bolt it up if I cut the remaining pipe off flush
Or if I'll need to I'll get ...

AE111 exhausts Carib same as levin?
Hi
Trying to sort a factory exhaust to replace droning fart cannon exhaust on my AE111 4age levin
Is the 4age carib exhaust the same as levin from (including) cat?
i.e. hangers in the same place etc?
Thanks
Ken
