Thanks guys, good to know I'm not just being crazy.
I thought it would be cheaper and more effective to just keep a car that is doing the job than look around for a new one unnecessarily. I'll get the timing belt done too - I might be pushing it with extractors though lol

Re: Replacing a sunvisor - parts, or whole unit?
Does anyone have any pointers in installation please? I figured it would be a two piece unit where I would put the first part in and then the second - it is already assembled, so my theory about the installation is out lol

When do you draw the line with your car? (Daily driver)
I thought I would raise this as a thread to gather the thoughts of others
Simply put, when and where do you draw the line with maintaining, repairing and upgrading your car?
I have a 2004 Corolla wagon, 240km. It's in okay nick, but could do with a refresh. It cost me less than $3k three years ...

New/replacement parts for Hayman Reece towbars?
Hi everyone, I've been given a towbar for a 2004 corolla wagon (ZZE122R), and need the bolts & mounting plates etc.
I've tried to purchase these from one of their stockists, but was told that Hayman Reece will not sell replacement parts.
Does anyone have any ideas or advice please, e.g ...

Replacing a sunvisor - parts, or whole unit?
Hi everyone, I had the bright idea of replacing my driver side sunvisor as it was broken. Thought I would replace it with a second hand unit, and the realised that 1) it is a two piece mount that fits into the roof, and 2) that I can't get the fecking thing in the roof lol Managed to break it trying ...

Torque Wrenches: King Tony or Teng
Hi everyone, I'm in Oz but will be in NZ soon. I am quite drunk right now lol
I want to buy a torque wrench. Probably a 3/8. I'm drunk, so don't really know for sure!
Seriously, I know I will need more than one of these, question is, are the Teng or king tony ones any good, which brand should I go ...

Re: Quick question: will removing passenger seat set off air
all sounds good but doesn't answer the question.
If you remove the seat that has an airbag in it, and then switch on the ignition with the seat missing,
it will log a fault code and will not self reset when you put the seat back in.
It will need to be cleared.
Which was the answer I was looking ...

Quick question: will removing passenger seat set off airbag
Hi everyone, quick question!
I am looking at buying 2.4m long shelving units, only way i can fit them into car (2004 corolla ZZE122R Wagon) has me removing front passenger seat.
If i do this, there is the passenger airbag to consider. So, if I
1. disconnect battery
2. leave it for 10 minutes or ...

You need this one: m
I find the Gregory's manuals are often better than Haynes anyway.
Which Haynes one did you get by the way? Their Corolla one does cover the 1ZZ but maybe you bought one for the wrong market: m
edit: guessing you bought this one, which is for the UK market: m

Re: What did you do to your car today?
Received the Haynes manual I ordered for my ZZE122 Corolla wagon...
... only to find it does not include anything on 1.8L engines.
really should have checked the front and rear covers online.

Re: Installing OEM roof racks on ZZE122 Corolla?
Ah.
thanks for that, you've saved me a lot of hassle then!
I was looking at the appearance (Yup, I miss my Caldina, although I miss the Curren more lol) more than the practicality, just wanted to break up the very large flat space on the top.
Meh, more money for servicing and other parts!

Installing OEM roof racks on ZZE122 Corolla?
Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with fitting an OEM roof rack on to a ZZE122 Corolla or the like that hasn’t had them fitted before? They are similar to the ST215 Caldina ones:

ZZE122 Corolla - OEM Stereo in HELP mode
HI everyone, I have a 2004 Corolla Wagon (ZZE122R) – the stereo (08600-00974 or 00971, with 32804 on the front) is in 'HELP' mode.
Following instructions in various links around the net, I can move the stereo into SEC mode. These same links indicate my inputting the PIN will take it out of SEC mode ...
