Hi everyone, quick question!
I am looking at buying 2.4m long shelving units, only way i can fit them into car (2004 corolla ZZE122R Wagon) has me removing front passenger seat.
If i do this, there is the passenger airbag to consider. So, if I
1. disconnect battery
2. leave it for 10 minutes or so
3. disconnect sensors/plugs under seat
4. Remove seat
5. Reconnect battery
6. Go do what i need to do with shelves
7. Disconnect battery, reinstall seat, reconnect sensors, reconnect battery...
...Will i have an airbag warning light sensor go off on my dash upon reconnection? I've found mixed answers online ranging from nope, to easy to reset, but toyspeed always knows lol
Direction on this much appreciated- $30 delivery much less hassle than attempting code resets lol
(Irony is that the airbag has to be replaced as part of factory recall next month, but too much drama arguing with them about thus if there's what they perceive as funny stuff lol)
Quick question: will removing passenger seat set off airbag

Re: Quick question: will removing passenger seat set off air
does it have airbag in the seat? or do you mean airbag in the dash?
as long as there's no "yellow" colored wires/connector present under the seat (i'm thinking seatbelt pretensioner), then the wires are probably just seatbelt or occupant sensors. its OK to disconnect them.

Maybe check with a panelbeater on the correct process for removing the seat?
See ya

Any time when you work around air bag circuits (yellow conduits, wires and plugs) disconnect battery and wait ~90seconds.
Re: Quick question: will removing passenger seat set off air
all sounds good but doesn't answer the question.
If you remove the seat that has an airbag in it, and then switch on the ignition with the seat missing,
it will log a fault code and will not self reset when you put the seat back in.
It will need to be cleared.

Which was the answer I was looking for - I was planning to get the car steam cleaned, and was going to remove seats to enable a better clean under the seats (car pretty stinky lol).
uestion is, would the monkeys steam cleaning my car bugger the codes if they moved car and turned ignition? Better to warn them and have them bear risk lol

And warn them in writing telling them it's their problem if they turn on the ignition. Get them to sign the note if you can.

Re: Quick question: will removing passenger seat set off air
Each time the ignition is switched on, the SRS system runs checks on all components of the system - from airbags to sensors. If any part is not responding due to being disconnected or faulty, the system will log a code and you will get the airbag light on. The only way to get rid of it is to clear the system via a diagnostic tool (unlike ECU codes, where disconnecting the battery for a few minutes will put the codes into 'history' and therefore engine check light will not be on).
