most 4wds hae a higher rating for towing

my 2001 v8 jeep grand cherokee ltd has a 3500kg rating

goes pretty good but likes the odd drop of fuel lol would even finish off my coke in the back seat if given a chance :oops: :lol:

but love that v8 niose :lol:

I hear Terrano's are notorious for blowing transmissions.

I read that the later models came with trans coolers - mine's a '93 so I'm not sure if I have one or if it was the next shape. But yes; while I was out on the sand I was thinking about was the constant work the trans was under.

come back from taupo yesterday picking up my 01 v8 jeep grand cherokee and that returned 12.6l/100km which i thought was pretty dam good for a v8 petrol 4wd

my vt v8 holden got 10l/100km on the trip up

i picked up my 80 series landcriuser for 8500 more or less ready to go 4wding

Hopefully getting a Terrano in a few weeks and I'd like to take it off roading, but I don't have much (...any ) experience.

The ute has 3 settings (4-high / 4-low / 2wd). My thoughts for each gear are:
* 4wd - High (Gravel / Sand / Mud / Water)
* 4wd - Low (Rock climbing / steep bumpy dry hills ...
