Re: AE92 Race Spring rates

Would say you could do with some stiffer rear springs if you're just doing circuit. 6-8kg range in the rear with that size bar.

I started off in my AE111 with 6kg front and 4kg rear (BC Gold coilovers, stock 25mm front sway bar and a BZR 18mm rear sway bar). Tyres have been either Nitto NT01 or ...

Re: Tyre flavors

Had a set of RE002's on my Corolla that lasted 45 ish thousand k's and about 5.5 years. Still have warrantable (just!) tread so naturally went for a set of RE003 to replace them.
Had no issues with the RE002's other than the inside edges wearing due to a kinda aggressive alignment for track.

Super pro do a caster correction rear bush for the AE111 - what about converting to those style arms with a vertical bolt?

Re: What did you do to your car today?

Finally had to replace the RE003s on the front of the Corolla...just shy of 24k on them, not too bad.
So nice having fresh ones again, been on the treadwear indicators for a bit now, forget how grippy they are new

Got close to 50k on my set of RE002's. Got them in May 2012, just replaced them ...

Re: Decent set of AE86 headers ??

When deciding to change the rear muffler on my Corolla I spent a lot of time researching options and ended up with a Magnaflow muffler like you've posted John. It is an offset inlet and centre outlet one. There is a good little promo vid by them explaining how their muffler can flow as good as a ...

Re: Trumpets inside factory plenum 4age 20v BT

Second that Lith. I found on my Silvertop that making a bigger plenum helped filling the mid-range dip with an extra 3kW from 5800-7800rpm.

Bare in mind the modified plenum on mine was only to allow fitment around No1 cylinder velocity stack. iirc without plenum there wasn't any dips - I just ...

Re: St205 Intercooler pump

Yeah the one I got is the same as the recall one. It is new from Toyota though so I would hope that they stopped selling the dud ones once they figured out it had a problem.

Part number is G9020-47031.

Going from the description on the recall it does sound like if you bleed the system properly ...

There are a heap of 040 white options anyway - if you're getting some paint made up the best bet would be to take the car past so it can be matched.

Re: 4age clutch compatibilty question

I've always run a standard Toyota clutch with my C160. Clutch still looked mint when I had the motor out 12months ago after a heap of trackdays and road use. Never launch the car or be too hard but on the odd occasion my left foot has twitched and had a second go at the clutch... Car now outputs a ...

Re: Talk some sense into me - Mazda RX8

only downside im aware of and the reason my mate got rid of rx8 is that when u start it cold and turn it off before its warm it will flood and near impossible to start again unless ur battery can turn it over for 5-10minutes, i reckon that is the stupidest thing a 'new' car can do and would ...

Re: What did you do to your car today?

On Saturday I removed the 2-1 section of the exhaust manifold to wrap it, snapped a stud off, smacked my knuckle into the sump, lots of cursing and swearing. Required a heap of new nuts and bolts so gave up. Got it wrapped at least so wasn't a complete waste of time.

Tonights mission is to put it ...

Re: Prado Engine: 1KZ, 1KD or 1GD

The 1KZ has a bit of a history with cracking heads. Towed my Corolla to Taupo and back the other week with one and used SFA diesel to do so but was oh so slow and painful to pass.

You may find you'll need another resonator to rid it of the typical 20v rasp. One where the cat was and one just before the rear crossmember.
