What I did today...

Postby matt dunn » Sat Sep 02, 2006 11:14 pm

Well, at 3.30 today may car looked like this,

So a few hours later,

it now looks like this,

Took a bit more than i thought.
Had to swap over all the accessories, replaced rear main seal, removed sump and fitted the baffeled one with turbo return etc etc.

Not too bad for a few hour works including going to have tea at the In-laws.

Matt
Tomorrow, hopefully, will get all the rest back together.

No, the old engine is still fine, just sitting in the corner waiting,

This one is a new setup, in the never ending search for more power.

Can't raise the boost as the class I race in has an 18psi limit,
so raised the compression ratio instead.
Will see how it goes next weekend hopefully.

Gone up from 7.8 to 9,

but the modified head and aftermarket cams are still on the other engine,

so will be interesting to see if there more power, less power, or the same?

Time ( and a dyno plot) will tell.

Now why would he want a bigger turbo when he can't go over 18psi? ;)
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

would also sacrifice response , depends how responsive he wants it. tho with raised compression it should be able to spool a slightly larger turbo just as fast as before.
