megasquirt stimulator... but I dont know what it does lol

edit:
here we are:
The stimulator (aka. stim) is a small board that supplies the signals to MegaSquirt that would normally come from the engine to MegaSquirt, and display the outputs from MegaSquirt on a series of LEDs. This allows you to test MegaSquirt, and learn the tuning software. It also helps you to verify that MegaSquirt is operating correctly if you have problems on the vehicle, and lets you 'play' with MegaSquirt to better understand how it operates. Before assembling your MegaSquirt, you should assemble the stimulator, which you will use to test your MegaSquirt as you proceed.

i was going to ask the same thing, instead i looked it up, seems to be a circuit that simulates a running car so you can test your megasquirt without screwing things up on your real car. (correct me if im wrong please, i only skim read)

Ill go dig mine out and send it to you if you promise to send it back :P

And can stand the scary wiring....

(its free form, bascially componats soldered to each other, without a circuit board to hold them).

lol, works great though.

Ill see if I can find it.

Surely it would be a simulator rather than stimulator? Seems to me like it pretends the ECU is in a car, rather than makes it horny

No, its a stim.

Its used during the contructiong phase to simulate certain parts of the circuit. To test (or wake up/stim) parts of it.

I just wired it up, fired up megatune then moved tps, dropped the temp senders in some hot water, blow on the map and your pretty much tested :D injector drivers should be sweet and youll see the rpm signal when you crank it. Unless you hopeless at following insturctions they usually fire up sweet

hey. managed to get it going, turned out to be megatune set up incorrectly. I probably wont need to use the stim anymore slighty_sykotic, but thanks anyway (:

ke70wagon20v, do you have megasquirt controlling spark too? there are a couple of things I am a little unsure of to do with that. if so did you use a second vr input? i am wiring a 20v aswell (I guess that is what you have megasquirted)

Hey i know this is an old thread but wondering if you can remember what version board you were running and if you did your tuning via the serial cable with a usb adaptor or not.
Just trying to get into mine but all i know about it is that it's a v3 board, nothing else as i didn't build it but it was in the car when i brought it. Need to change a couple of settings for the spare outputs around a little

I run a V3 board with a USB to serial adapter.
You should be able to get help on irc.freenode.net #megasquirt if you like.
