Actually thinking about this - surely we have enough members who would be qualified to make a submission on this? Surely if we can get enough support behind it we could get them to amend these changes?

Yes!, and while we do that we also should rally for authority-like excemption for trackday cars.

Correct me if I am wrong:
As far as I understand to have full rollcage you need authority card.
To have authority card, you need to have the following:
1) Clubsport licence (which means you need to be a member of a car club that gives out these).
2) have a logbook
3) Take part in couple of Motorsport NZ sanctioned events, so they can go in logbook.

As far as I can see there is far greater turnout on the trackdays than on rallysprint events.
I for example not interested in doing rally/rally-sprint, or competing in a MS NZ sanctioned event. All I am interested is going for a hoon around the track once a month.

Unfortunately with current rules it is not possible to get a full roll cage just for the trackdays (which is very stupid). Unless I am wrong here?
As far as other things I can get around with low volume cert. Well, except maybe -3' camber that is required for R888.

People doing trackdays are not really interested in commitment of authority card. Sometimes we have cars sitting for months without use due to lack of time or money. But I think it is stupid to not have protection of proper roll cage.

Of course you can put your track day car on hold indefinitely buy a 4x4 and a car trailer. But that becomes a huge financial burden, as well as keeping 4x4 on road, and trailer, additionally to existing family car.

You'd be surprised as to what qualifies for an MSNZ sanctioned event.
Plenty on here more up to date on the rules than me, but I'm pretty sure a car club run autocross can qualify.

To have an authority card there is also one more step, you need to be a member of a MSNZ car club, there are plenty around that offer cheap memberships, you can find a list on the MSNZ website.

Im not sure if you are thinking you need a roll cage to have an authority card? You do not need a roll cage but I think you have to have something on the list that qualifies you for an exemption, ie. brake lines, hydraulic handbrake, roll cage, lexan replacing glass etc.
I have never seen tyres or camber as an option to tick on the application but it may because it might not have taken effect as of yet?

and as Revhead has said already, yes an autocross or motokhana qualifies you for your 2 events needed, you dont need to do a rallysprint, Also it might pay to note alot of car clubs run trackdays as single car sprints which also count towards this ;-)

How far do you have to go with changing a car to make it scratch built, or is it only for things like kit cars and hot rods that start off as a few bits of box section?

So what happens with a car that already has an LVV cert, and then the owner changes something else requiring a cert, and goes back to get a new cert, does the previously fine and certed camber then become illegal?

The camber thing is still under review, so we need to submit reasonable evidence to them asap.

Thing I don't understand is I see a HEAP of cars that obviously are not legal - I also see a HEAP of cops on the roads all the time.

How are these selfish pricks not getting pulled over continuously and sticker-ed? Their cars stick out like a cock in a lesbian 3 way.

I would like to think that this camber rule will make it obvious to the cops who is not legal and who should be pulled - but I don't think they care...

The unfortunate thing is that those sort of people will just say "put it on my tab" and never pay the fine.

They don't, but they can check the wof sticker that expired in 2006 and notice that the rego is on hold.

The whole system needs a revamp, fines dont work as someone said - they need to increase impounding and demerit point.

And if they put red light cameras on all the intersections in auckland city they would cover the loss in revenue.

they wont. they will just green/pink it

I had a good talk to mark flemming yesterday, he is the copper who writes for nzpc in the 'certed' section of the mag.

He wants to see change as well, and has given us some good ideas to carry on with, as well as that james from rota wheels is also keen to make some changes, looks as tho we are getting the right people on board at least!

So they can pink sticker you even though the angle is within the specs?
Can they tell the difference between 2 and 3 degrees without proper equipment?

If you are totally legit, the stickers wont be hard to get off at all. But then again the people we want targeted will be driving around with window scrapers to remove them as soon as the cops turned his back

Why should I pay for cops bad day? If there is no measurement on the spot (like they do it for ride height and thread depth) they should not be able to pink sticker, unless it is a very extreme case (eg: stock standard Nissan Serena with four big people ;)).
