Correct me if I am wrong:
As far as I understand to have full rollcage you need authority card.
To have authority card, you need to have the following:
1) Clubsport licence (which means you need to be a member of a car club that gives out these).
2) have a logbook
3) Take part in couple of Motorsport NZ sanctioned events, so they can go in logbook.
As far as I can see there is far greater turnout on the trackdays than on rallysprint events.
I for example not interested in doing rally/rally-sprint, or competing in a MS NZ sanctioned event. All I am interested is going for a hoon around the track once a month.
Unfortunately with current rules it is not possible to get a full roll cage just for the trackdays (which is very stupid). Unless I am wrong here?
As far as other things I can get around with low volume cert. Well, except maybe -3' camber that is required for R888.
People doing trackdays are not really interested in commitment of authority card. Sometimes we have cars sitting for months without use due to lack of time or money. But I think it is stupid to not have protection of proper roll cage.
Of course you can put your track day car on hold indefinitely buy a 4x4 and a car trailer. But that becomes a huge financial burden, as well as keeping 4x4 on road, and trailer, additionally to existing family car.
To have an authority card there is also one more step, you need to be a member of a MSNZ car club, there are plenty around that offer cheap memberships, you can find a list on the MSNZ website.
Im not sure if you are thinking you need a roll cage to have an authority card? You do not need a roll cage but I think you have to have something on the list that qualifies you for an exemption, ie. brake lines, hydraulic handbrake, roll cage, lexan replacing glass etc.
I have never seen tyres or camber as an option to tick on the application but it may because it might not have taken effect as of yet?
and as Revhead has said already, yes an autocross or motokhana qualifies you for your 2 events needed, you dont need to do a rallysprint, Also it might pay to note alot of car clubs run trackdays as single car sprints which also count towards this
