Taupo Track day - full track

Postby Chelles » Wed Jul 19, 2006 12:14 pm

Hello everyone

I’m planning a track day and looking for numbers of interested drivers as I will need to have at least 40 drivers to make it happen. (I have 9 drivers keen so far). I'm giving you all lots of notice for this one. 8)

Details:
Wednesday 22nd November 2006 (yes it's a Wednesday you'll have to take time off work/school)
Cost $120 – 130 per driver (TBC)
Taupo full track 3.5km ( http://www.tauporacetrack.co.nz/develop ... uction.htm )

Post here if you’re keen and I’ll have the online entry available soon with more details.

Thanks everyone
Chelles :D

Whats the chances of making it a Thursday or a Friday. Then its less days off work, and then people can plan to spend the weekend up/down there.

(I always plan a day for the drive up, one for racing, one for comming back, else work is really bad the next day =P )

Excellent, thank you very much guys. I've just confirmed the date, and I'll confrim the price very shortly.

I am dead excited to get out on the big track :)

I've also just confirm a track hire for Feb (big track) and Monday of Queens Birthday next year (medium track)

This may seem pointless to some.
But is there any thought of separating the track during the day to run both old and new track separately?

I'm just thinking of my poor diminutive stock 4AGE struggling to have any fun on the back straight.
Also any chance of using the drag strip during the day? Even if the timing is via dirty old stop watch, with an arm waving start.

You can't do that. If you've hired the full track you must run that configuration for the day from my understanding. Not to mention the logistical 'mare for running two track events...

I'm sure there will be huge fun had on the back straight, it will give you a chance to see what you can pull out of your stock 4age with that amount of space. I'm looking forward to red line in 5th gear in the Mirage!

Yep - all sounds good to me. Hey Stealer, don't worry abnout how fast you can go down the back straight but how long you can leave it before you have to brake  Much more fun :D
See ya

I can imagine!
I'm just super interested in learning to drive the twisty bits. I've found my car holds on a lot longer than my nuts...
And it'll take me soooo long to get along the back straight to get back to the twisties.

It'd be a straight world without twisties...

If you look at the map of the full track you'll see there are lots of 'twisties' to see how long your car and your nuts can hold on for.
