Yep it had to happen sooner or later good stuff I was thinking they would be the first.I'm just waiting to see what Heat Treatments come up with then its all on Trans Tasman 6 second import racing YEEEEEE HAAAAA.They got 3-4 cars that are 6 second cars if we throw a couple in the mix its all on.

I see in the U.S now they don't even run 1/4 miles now they do 1000 feet go figure..

Also the Titan Motorsport Scion TC just did it PB 1/8 mile time of 4.20@173 mph so they might be able to push that 6.4@ 220 mph down a little more.

That's only in Top fuel and Funny Car at this stage because of Scott Kalitta's fatal accident (R.I.P.) Just a safety thing at the moment I believe.

Oh yeah it was always going to be Rayglass first, Heat Treatments even said that - basically because they are building a car ground up whereas the Rayglass car was all but a turn key package. When the Heat Treatments car is ready to race then its going to be some very interesting times here!

Also the Titan motorsport pb 4.2 I believe was just for their 10.5 tyre car, I doubt its their all out fastest 1/8th mile - thats not that quick a time for a 6.4, I'd imagine that would have been done in the high 3s on the much wider slicks.

^Sheet they'd be happy with that, They've broken the 6 second barrier, backed that up, then well and truly smashed it.

Yeah thats a bit hard to comprehend, I never saw that bit coming - thats mental power especially after all the talk of ~2000hp from GAS. That is of course GAS put everything into their 6.68 @ 212mph run. Heat Treatments are going to have a bit more work to do than I expected!!

Imagine a side by side between GAS and Rayglass now! 8O

edit: The word I have heard from Oz was that the trap speed was closer to 205mph, which would be more consistant with all their other times and speeds.... may have to await confirmation on that

The Rayglass team must have found something in the setup with this car to go that fast because I'm pretty sure that would be pretty close to the fastest elapsed time that that car has ever done.It will be interesting to see how quick it can go on NZ soil on a fully prepped track.I wanna see it give some of these Doorslammers the hurry up.205 sounds about right to me as well.Good going none the less.

I dont mean to sound negative, but to me it seems like an american (IIRC) built car set a fast time in Australia...

So NZers celebrate it as a national first? :P

It'll be NZs first 6 second import when it does the same in NZ IMO...

Which will hopefully be this up coming season, looks as though there's going to be a few good reasons to go check out the drags every once in a while. 8)

Yeah I hear what your saying but I think the financial reality of starting from scratch and building a 6 second drag you have to have really deep pockets.I reckon the Rayglass crew would have paid probably $100 K USD for that car if not more.

I saw when Titan Motorsport were first selling the Celica they wanted $120 K USD just for the car with no motor so I think you'd be spending at least twice that $$$ for a complete car from scratch so a turn the key and run financially anyway kinda makes sense.

Haha its a pretty good point, when I think about it - the only fully built NZ 7s imports are a 4WD Skyline, a old Datsun 1200, and a Mazda SP20 built by a bunch of lads from Paraparaumu :D

Nah, I've got no issues with buying a turn key package... Good on em!

But for an NZ record to be an NZ record, surely it needs to be done in NZ? :P That's more what I was getting at.

Yeah definitely big bucks in top level drag cars. 8O

I'll definitely be going to watch a few rounds of the drags this season for sure.
