Window tinting has always been one of the most popular upgrade for your vehicle.

Let’s face it. It makes your vehicle look better.

Apart from the visual appeal, there are many other reasons to consider having your windows tinted.

Listed below are some of the top reasons that people tint their cars.

Avoid Overheating:

Your car's interior can be 60% cooler during those hot summer days with proper tinting.

Protect Your Skin:

Image

Harmful UV rays from the sun can cause skin cancer. Tinting your car can block 99% of these damaging rays.

Accident Protection:

Image

In an auto accident, tinting can help shattered glass hold together, protecting the occupants of the car.

Safer Driving:

Image

Tinting reduces dangerous glare from the sun, snow, and other headlights, helping you drive safely.

Enhanced Privacy:

Tinting protects your privacy and contents within a car. What a burglar can't see, he won't steal.

Prevent Cracking and Fading:

Harmful UV rays and heat cause car upholstery to crack and fade. Car tint is sunscreen for your car.

no offence but i don't really like the look of tinted windows personally as i already drive a black car with dark rims and try to avoid the 'boyracer' stereotype like a plague.

but i do get annoyed with the summer weather heating up the inside of the car like an oven even after a few minutes in the sun. has there got any solution to this problem without darkening the shade of the glass?perhaps a clear(ish) UV-eliminting coating?

A black car with black tints can look classy if you have a semi-classy and tidy car to begin with. Tints on a riced out car is going to amplify the rice look.

My starlet is tinted and its a black based green, doesn't look boy racer at all.

Would love to tint the golf but have other priorities atm for that cash, plus I don't know how good the places are down here for tinting. May look at it next year sometime. Will even consider incorporating it into a trip to Aucks and get it done from our sponsor 8)

yeah i do admit tints look nice on a lot of cars but i would rather not have them on my car as a personal choice.

not fussed about the cops, just seen to many horied up ae101 levins/truenos that look real stupid and i don't want to be thrown in with that kind of crowd cause thats not me or my car is about.

all i'm asking is if there is alternative to going for a tint but still reducing the 'rays' that heat my car up during summer.

What's the deal with tinting jap imports with factory tinted glass, from the rear windows back?

How close can the front windows be matched?

These days its the entire car that can only be 35% VLT for normal vehicles. (used to be different like 10 years ago)

VANS can do fun things like block out the side windows fully, but only couriers and old men with 'free candy' signs drive vans right?

my atenza rear windows are black, actual tinted glass from factory,
the fronts however could only legally be tinted to 35,

Try 35%, When I did tinting I used to check them to humor myself, all came back 35%.

Got pulled over in altezza and cop asked if it was factory tinted glass or tint film, got him to check it, 35%.

My flatmate just went through a heap of crap (at useless VTNZ) because of the factory tinted windows on her VW Polo.

The tester failed her because the 'tints may blind other motorists' (?!)....she argued that a) they were factory tints and had always been on the car and b) this was the first time it had been mentioned, let alone failed, in any WOF.

They didn't budge.

So she went to a tinting company, got them to write a letter confirming they were factory tints and were legal at that (i.e. under the 35%)

Went back to VTNZ.....still wouldn't budge.

So she went back to the tinting company.

....and went back to VTNZ....who finally gave her the warrant for her factory standard, legal tints.

Moral of the story- VTNZ suck donkey cocks and are staffed by failed mechanics on power trips

Actually there is such film that is colourless and yet offers all the benefits.

Our Folie Ceramic is an example, we have 70% VLT ceramic films that is nearly colourless, and yet it offers 99% UV and 60+% heat (IR) rejecton.

Sounds too good to be true, but this sort of film is becoming more and more popular :)

Has anyone tested the effect of these films on run of the mill police LIDAR?
